Please note that JUSTICEwa is still very much in its set up stage and we have extremely limited resources. 

As a new charity, we anticipate it will take us at least 18-24 months before we are in a position to take on a case as it requires considerable funds to hire the appropriate legal/forensic experts.

Our organisation, commonly referred to as an "innocence project" is not using the pro bono strategy. Most innocence projects approach lawyers/forensic experts to take on their cases and work for free. We do not believe that relying on highly skilled professionals to work for free is a sustainable model.

In our view, this is not a long term solution and seems to be the reason why many innocence projects struggle to achieve an exoneration. Through fundraising activities, JUSTICEwa will appropriately remunerate the experts we engage.

In the long term, we believe we will achieve better results for the victims we will be fighting for.

We have an enormous job on our hands to raise the funds we require to help the victims of the WA justice system but we won't give up.
